Alidou, Ousseina (AMESALL) has been appointed to the elected position of Chair of the Association of African Studies Programs (AASP) for 2010-2011. AASP is an organization of deans, chairs and directors who head African Studies Programs in the USA. This is a position of considerable distinction within the wider African Studies Community.
Batson, Philip E. (Physics and Astronomy) has been elected Fellow of the Microscopy Society of America, “For his pioneering contributions to the development of spatially resolved electron energy loss spectroscopy and his successful use of this technique to solve important and difficult problems in materials,” August 8, 2011.
Birkenholtz, Trevor (Geography) received a Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) & Department for International Development (DFID) grant for “Safeguarding Local Equity as Global Values of Ecosystem Services Rise.”
