The Latino
& Hispanic Caribbean Studies Teaching Fund
As you might
know, the budget crisis in New Jersey and within Rutgers have affected all aspects of the University's life. It amounts to the
largest budget cut ever faced by the University. In our department this has resulted in significant cuts in all our budgets.
At a time when
the department is pressing the University to allow us to complete
our replacement hiring in order to bring back the department to
six tenured/tenure-track faculty we face massive cuts that have
reduced our office, program and teaching budget. Most important for us are the cuts in our teaching budget which
has resulted in the cancellation of courses and an increase in class
size.
We are asking
for your help in re-establishing some of the courses that we will
not be able to teach by sending
a contribution targeted for "curricular survival."
We will appreciate
any contribution no matter how small.

be made out to: Rutgers University Foundation/LHCS Teaching Fund
Or use the online donation form linked on our web page.
You will receive
confirmation and an official receipt from the foundation at some
point after.
Other larger
departments at Rutgers receive tens of thousands of dollars yearly
from alums that allow them to save funds over the years for crisis
like this one. We have no such buffer.
