  • Topics in LHCS: Environmental Issues in Latino/a Writing - 836:312--Prof. Marcone

Equivalent to "conflict and change" for purposes of the "old" major. Open to all students

This course has three goals. It will first review the principal long term themes in the formation of Central American Nation-States. After this, we will more carefully examine the history of the region in the twentieth century with a special focus on discussions of authoritarian states and revolutionary actors, cultures and movements. The third part of the course will examine in some detail the history of the revolutionary movements and/or governments in Nicaragua, Guatemala and El Salvador between 1977 and 1992.
