I was born in Medellin, Colombia. My mother migrated with her four daughters to the United States after my father was murdered in my native country. I came to the USA when I was 14 years old. I was the first one of my four sisters to graduate college. I graduated from Berkeley College with a BS in International business. As a Latina luchona, I have had many jobs. We can start with my first job in a cleaning company. I went from picking up garbage at 16 to becoming a supervisor at age 18. Later on in my life I worked as an administrative assistant for an attorney, and then as a discharge planner at Hyacinth AIDS Foundation. The last career, and the only one I did not get paid for was a stay home mom. I am the happy mother of three little kids. I learned through all these jobs to be a better person. I was exposed to many obstacles and learned how to handle many situations or at least that is how I feel. I am a very lucky person. I have had the opportunity to learn different tasks through my life; some easier than others. I can’t say I am a master in everything I do, but all I can say is that I would always try my best to do my job the best I can. I thank you all for the opportunity you are giving me now to work as a secretary for the LHCS department.
