1. Be prepared to identify the boundaries, state names, state capitals and major physical features of modern Mexico and Mexico as of 1820 on a blank map.
2. Please write brief (one paragraph) responses to the following three questions based on the readings.  You need to review the reading with an eye for the important issues witout much of  the narrative detail. Feel free to state your case by citing examples.  You may submit this work by email but please bring a copy into class for discussion purposes.
1. What are the principal elements of Mexico's Colonial-era heritage?
2. How do you think these elements would affect the formation of a new independent Nation-State?
3. How did the process of Mexican Independence set the stage for the struggles of the following decades?
